I was asked for my perspective on hiring trends in this context by the people at the FT.
The recent sharp rise in demand for ESG-related investments is forcing asset managers to grow their teams and expertise, while new regulations are also driving up demand for talent in this area.
However, Navin Raina, managing director at AMC Executive Search, says ESG is still a relatively new discipline, with a number of “complex” components, from investment, client communications to governance, leaving a “very narrow talent pool that is being fished by the same people”.
Mr Raina also says compensation levels have “grown exponentially” for “strong” ESG leadership candidates.
