An interesting piece from the Institutional Investor showing that there has been limited progress in achieving diversity in the asset management industry, particularly in light of the recent reports from McKinsey that progress on gender diversity in the workplace has stalled.
AMC are aware of our responsibility as executive search professionals to consistently challenge our clients to consider diverse candidates; and we are delighted to report that 50% of candidates we placed into senior leadership positions in 2018 were women.
However, we are also aware that diversity is not just a gender issue. Instead it encompasses gender, race, ethnicity and diversity of thought. More initiatives are therefore certainly needed to further the number of diverse leaders in the industry, and we strongly believe that this will only be achieved through the application of long-term and multi-faceted approaches. Approaches that seek to increase diversity in leadership but also at the most junior levels of an organisation in order to achieve a more diverse future for financial services.
